Hurricane Sandy...Why Must You Ruin Everything

Guess no Halloween this year :( pooh!...plans are ruined.
It's the first hurricane this season that is actually affecting my area so bad I was forced to go home. I was told Campus would be closed until Tuesday. So of course I just packed for 3 days..but it seems like its going to be worse than I thought.

Looks like I will be raiding my sisters closet...baggy outfits shall be the trend this Hurricane Season.

I wonder whether I should've hurricane proofed my house...but my mother said its just a lil rain and wind--- -.-

That's hispanic moms for you....we don't prepare for these things until our first floor floods then...its an issue.

I will try to update things...perhaps do a lil video of my hurricane experience.. I hope I don't loose power I will cry :(.

Bout to charge all of my electronics....especially since I have an 8 page paper due this week.

Sydney White's Hot or Not List....in Real Life??!

So yesterday a website went viral on my campus, that is causing such an uproar even from some teachers (politics class of course). Its similar to the website "Hot or Not" in the movie Sydney White (AWESOME movie btw) the whole concept is 'rating' girls based off pictures.

The creators of this website took profile pictures new and old from people's Facebook pages and posted it up. The website seemed to be done poorly so an amateur made it for sure.

I went on it and was confused how the ratings were determined so kept clicking so it would refresh with new pictures (of course curious to see if I was on it). Turns out every time I would click on a picture to refresh I voted on them-- OOPS...

Most if not all of the pictures were from Freshmen and Sophomore girls... in my opinion whoever created it probably was a freshmen or sophomore as well.

Like really... they are the ONLY ones who have the time to create...copy the pictures...and post it up. College students will understand once you hit your junior year....goodbye free time. It's when most of your classes for your major take place and all the work on work on work piles. NO time for 'rating' websites.

Anyways, as expected there were so many people pissed off...and posting their statuses on Facebook saying how it degrades women, invasion of privacy, the creators are cruel, etc. I feel like by posting this they helped spread the word of this website... (i feel like someone watched The Social Network a bit too much).

But my school administrators and their legal teams stayed up 'all night' and managed to block it just on our servers since they can't take it down worldwide. But it violated SCHOOL policies so the creators will have a nice encounter with our school's 'law.'

A lot of people are upset and what not..but i personally don't know how I feel about it.

Is it degrading? I guess to some extent..all the pictures were decent after all they are PROFILE PICTURES. So I think if girls are offended that their picture was up on the internet...its the golden rule for any social network...once its up on Facebook its up for anyone to see no matter how many 'privacy' settings you put up. So you shouldn't be upset someone found it.

I feel like we 'rate' people without the need of a website...so because someone actually took the time to physically dedicate a site to rating is just being 'real' because everyone else does it just without a site.

I do think for some girls this site may be emotionally harming...seeing poor rates (there were no room for comments--good thing) but from what I saw it wasn't bad as many other bashing sites can be. Again the site was confusing so rates are inaccurate if that consoles anyone...

Bottom Line: JUST DON'T DO IT! for everyone's sake i feel like people should stop creating things like this...its a waste of time...a cause for un-needed drama.

Any opinions?

Registration Begins!

So today marks the first day to register for spring semester classes! I can't believe it ...this semester JUST started. It is always a war-zone trying to get green-lighted and then allowed to let in to some classes before it gets filled up and after.

Luckily I am one of the first to choose. Normally I got my schedule down pat and my advisor just checks it off. But this time I actually needed help. I will admit in all of my college career, i've been a bit of an over-achiever. always taking the max. credits possible.

But this time I am taking the semester easy and taking the min. amount. Only because this coming fall there may be something exciting happening and I HAVE to spread my last few credits out. But I won't say what yet...I don't want to jinx it.

But picking the last few classes of your college career sucks! because a lot of them are the boring difficult ones that make you want to tear your hair out especially since you're taking 4 of those kinds at the same time.

And since i love to sleep and have to make room for my jobs, I am restricted to classes because of their time slots so therefore all my classes are mushed into 3 days :(

Anyways I am glad its over with...hopefully my teachers aren't hard... I usually check ratemyprofessor.com but a lot of my classes had the TBA under instructor. -.-

My Advice for Class Registration:

  1. Know what you're required to take for the year in July/Aug
  2. Your Advisor? Be their FRIEND! trust me you'll get perks and more attention.
  3. Be on top of the registration schedule
  4. Have backups for those classes that get closed off early
  5. Use ratemyprofessor.com to sway you from professors get the REAL dirt from former students.
  6. Know what the classes are so you don't schedule the crappy ones all in one semester. You want to stay motivated & not want to quit after the first exams!

Anyone else having registration?

Dilema of a Shopaholic

So a few weeks ago my lovely mommy<3 gave me money to go fall wardrobe shopping.
(I must have been looking that depressed and sad because she never encourages my addictions.)

And I have been so busy with acclimating to school & work that I have not....I repeat...HAVE NOT...gone shopping.

This is a dilemma because I have my summer clothes and its been chilly on and off...I haven't the right things to wear...etc. So I HAVE to go this weekend and go H.A.M.

Considering its a month well into the fall and about 2 well in fall fashion, I'm debating on what to buy.
If I buy a bunch of stuff just for fall, I might be a bit too late because the spring things start coming out quite soon.

So I'm thinking of buying some things that can easily transition into spring fashion (like color schemes, possible styles that are timeless, etc.)

Considering I have a budget for once (trying to just use the money I received) I think it is safer to just make a list of what I need (& by need I mean want that is in season.)

The making list part is a piece of cake! The narrowing it down to fit my budget is the problem...

eek! Help me!

So I need assistance as to what is a MUST buy for the fall and what are the MUST haves in every girls closet that can be for any season!

Made a New Friend, Grew a Few Inches, & Became Nancy Drew

So almost a year ago I was at a flea market with my friend, and found the cutest thing ever!
I was looking at jewelry and necklaces and saw a bunch of owl necklaces, giraffes necklaces, and elephants, etc.
And then I saw him<3
The cutest little owl.
Meet Diego!

Isn't he just the cutest thing? & he has a lil gold heart too!
Anyways today is the first time I wear him.
I know I usually don't wear half the things I buy until awhile after...bad habit.
But he fit perfectly with today's outfit.

Today I actually wore my forever21 pants I showed in an earlier blog, for the first time!
I'm loving the colors....as you can see my nails match my pants too!
I like to mix and match a lot.
Didn't clean up excess polish eek!Everyone today was asking me about my shoes. Lately I haven't been wearing my heels and since I'm a pretty short person...my shoes really made people realize the height difference :p

Aren't they a beast!? Everyone kept commenting on them.
Proud to say I wore them all day 8am-10pm. And didn't feel a thing of course until I took them off then I felt short.
ahh o well I enjoyed being tall for a day.
ahh my tired eyes!
I was exhausted so I didn't have much effort for my hair (my everyday dilemma )
I really don't know what to do with it. Need ideas, that I can do quickly since I have so much hair
(even after they thinned it!)

I would've preferred a bit darker toned shoes but still love them! and the pants I can't get over the color.
Looks red on some pictures but its like a wine/red ish color
First pair of pants from Forever21...and they're big!
I hate when I try pants on they are snug then bring them home and I need a belt. #fail

It was pouring this morning as I made the marathon walk to my car. So I had to throw on a lil trench coat.
Felt like Nancy Drew...won't lie :)
My only waterproof jacket. I love it! only complaint is the waist belt/buckle its sooooo long that i have to tie it...and when I hang it it has to wrap around the hanger.
Again thank you forever21!

Just around the Riverbend

After a stressful day pandora just knows what to play to motivate me.

"Should I choose the smoothest course steady as the beating drum..."

I love Disney sings❤. My best friend and I always break out into songs everywhere! Our life is a musical. I should record out duo performance one day.

Back to work.
